Seenbox

See who actually saw your email.

Seenbox helps small businesses write to their own customers from their own domain. It checks your list first, sends at a safe pace, and shows which emails have proof of being seen.

Emails go out from your own domain through Amazon SES. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

What Seenbox does

Seenbox is in development with its first customer, a small business in India. It is built for owners who write to people they already know and want to understand what happened next.

Checks your list first

Typos, duplicates, domains that cannot receive mail and addresses that bounced before are removed before anything is sent. You see what was removed and why.

Sends the way a person would

From your own domain, starting with a few emails a day and rising slowly, always inside a daily limit. Your sending reputation is the thing we protect.

Shows what happened to every email

Each email gets a clear status. Click any count to see the list of people behind it, and send a changed message to the ones who gave no sign of reading.

What you will see

Every count in your report opens the list of people behind it. People with no proof of reading can be sent a new, edited message. Retries wait four days, are limited to three attempts per person, and stop as soon as someone opens, clicks, replies or unsubscribes.

Who it is for

Small businesses that already have people to write to, and want to know what happened next without learning a complicated tool.

Shops and service businesses

Offers, renewals and reminders for people who have bought from you before.

Training and coaching centres

Notices and reminders to students and parents who gave you their email address.

Small agencies

Outreach for a few clients, always using each client’s own contacts and each client’s own domain.

Proof, not guesses

No email tool can see inside a person’s inbox, so none can honestly say an email “went to spam”. Seenbox separates what it can prove from what it cannot.

Clicked proof
Someone followed a link in the email.
Opened (likely) probable
A small image in the email was loaded. Some mail apps do this automatically, so we call it “likely”.
No proof of being seen unknown
The email was delivered but nothing happened for 72 hours. It may be unread, ignored or in the spam folder. We do not pretend to know which.
Bounced, marked as spam stop
The address is removed and never emailed again. The spam count is partial, because some providers do not report it.

Sending responsibly

Email is only useful when people want to receive it. These rules apply to every Seenbox customer. The full policy is on the email policy page.

  • Customers write only to people they have a real reason to contact: their own customers, people who enquired, and personal referrals.
  • Purchased, rented and scraped lists are not allowed.
  • Every email names the sender, shows a postal address, and has an unsubscribe link that works at once.
  • Addresses that bounce, complain or unsubscribe are removed permanently.
  • A campaign pauses automatically if bounces reach 5% or complaints reach 0.1%.
  • New domains start with a few emails a day and grow slowly.
  • Anyone can report a problem to abuse@seenbox.in.

Getting started

We set things up with you personally. We never ask for your passwords.

  1. We talk first. What you send, who you send it to, and where those contacts came from.
  2. We set up your domain and a mailbox for replies.Together on a short call. You stay the owner of your domain and mailbox.
  3. You upload a list.We check it, you preview real messages, and you decide what to send.
  4. You send in small batches and read the report. You can see who has proof of reading and who does not.

Questions

Short answers to what people ask us most.

Do you sell or supply email lists?

No. Seenbox never sells, rents or supplies contacts. Customers write to people they already know.

Can I upload a purchased list?

No. Purchased, rented and scraped lists are not allowed, and customers agree to that in the terms of use.

Where do my contacts go?

They are stored privately, kept separate from every other customer’s data, used only to send your emails, and deleted on request. See the privacy policy.

What does “no proof of being seen” mean?

The email was delivered, but nobody opened it, clicked it or replied within 72 hours. It may be unread, ignored or in a spam folder. Nobody can tell which, so we say only what we can prove.

Do you guarantee that emails reach the inbox?

No, and nobody honestly can. We protect your sending reputation by checking lists, sending slowly and removing bad addresses, and we show you the proof we have.

Which service sends the emails?

Amazon Simple Email Service (SES), from your own domain, so the sender is you and not us.

How do I stop getting emails?

Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. It works at once. To report abuse, write to abuse@seenbox.in.
